International Cellular Therapy Coding and Labeling Advisory Group

The International Cellular Therapy Coding and Labeling Advisory Group was established in October 2005 in order to provide a means of bringing international standardization to the coding and labeling of cellular therapy products.

The group is actively supported by, and has representation from, AABB, ASBMT, ASFA, EBMT, FACT, ICCBBA Inc, ISBT, ISCT, ISCT Europe, JACIE, NMDP and WMDA (see joint statement).  It has been established to:

a) review existing regulation regarding labeling;
b) design product label templates that satisfy regulatory requirements;
c) provide a focus for the standardization of terminology and product naming;
d) promote the adoption of the ISBT 128 standard in cellular therapy facilities around the

    world;
e) provide advice and support to facilities introducing the standard;
f)  advise on the ongoing development of the ISBT 128 standard to support new

    developments in cellular therapy.

The work of the group is available through this website, and through a program of publications and presentations.

The work output of the group, comprising three documents covering terminology, label design, and implementation will be posted for public consultation during January and February of 2007.  Following the review of comments and necessary revision of the text, the documents will be published.
